Supreme Court Denies Bail to AAP Leader Manish Sisodia in Delhi Excise Policy Scam Case
In a recent development, the Supreme Court has denied bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam cases. The decision was pronounced by a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti.
The Court expressed concerns about certain aspects of the case, particularly regarding the transfer of 338 crores, which were deemed to be established. As a result, bail was rejected for Sisodia. However, the bench also offered a ray of hope, stating that if the trial proceeds inadequately over the next six months, the accused can approach the court again.
Manish Sisodia has been in custody since February 26 of this year and is currently under investigation by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The Delhi excise policy scam revolves around allegations that Delhi government officials were involved in a conspiracy to grant liquor licenses to specific traders in exchange for bribes. The accused officials are suspected of manipulating the excise policy to favor certain liquor sellers. The case continues to unfold as investigations proceed.
