Every year thousands of law graduates from Maharashtra try for the JMFC exam (Judicial Magistrate First Class). Today in this article we will give information about the format of the Jmfc exam and syllabus. So that it will help the students to study for the exam. The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) examination is taken by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission(MPSC).

There are three stages to become the The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC)

Preliminary Examination: This is the first stage of the selection process. It generally consists of objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and includes topics like Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Evidence Act, Indian Penal Code, Civil Procedure Code, Limitation Act and General Knowledge & Current Affairs. , Candidates who qualify in the preliminary exam are eligible to appear in the main exam.

Main Exam: Main Exam is the second stage of the selection process and is more comprehensive and intensive than the Preliminary Exam. Candidates who perform well in the mains exam can move to the next stage.

Interview/Personality Test: The final stage consists of an interview or personality test. Candidates who qualify the preliminary and main examination are called for this stage. During the interview, the communication skills, personality traits and legal knowledge of the candidates are assessed. The performance in the interview along with the marks obtained in the main examination is used to determine the final selection.

Candidates who successfully qualify all the three stages of JMFC exam conducted by MPSC are eligible for appointment as Judicial Magistrate 1st Class in the state of Maharashtra.

Syllabus for JMFC EXAM

Preliminary Exam

In the preliminary exam, 100 questions of the objective type are asked. One question is for one mark and some students are shortlisted from all the examinees and they are selected for the mains exam. The duration of this exam is 2 hours.

Mains Exam

After the preliminary exam, some of the students are shortlisted on the basis of marks and they get a chance to give mains exam.The main examination consists of 2 papers. The first paper is on civil law and the second paper is on criminal law.
